The Family and Friends group is made up of people who care about Sertoma and want to help achieve the goals that will enhance the lives of others through their time and talents. A number of volunteer opportunities at the Centre are available to build awareness in the community; support operations; strengthen resources; and enhance programs and services.
Every day, individuals with disabilities achieve great personal victories because of the services offered by Sertoma Centre. Some of these victories are big - moving into their own home or taking a first job; some are small - learning to make change or getting dressed by themselves for the very first time. For a person with disabilities, every one of these victories represents another step in his or her personal path toward greater independence and participation in their community. Sertoma Centre has built its reputation on the many personal victories of the people it serves.
But, we can't do it alone. We ask that you consider volunteering your time to assist with the many services and activities available here. Whether you have just one hour of time to volunteer or have a few hours per week every week of the year - any support you are willing to give will make a difference in the lives of these individuals. None of the volunteer tasks require special training or abilities, but each is very important in its own way. Student community service hours and internships are available. Thanks to you, our work at the Centre will continue to grow and serve more people.
Please consider donating your time. To find out more about the opportunities available, please contact Melanie Jones, director of advancement and communications, at (708) 371-9700, ext. 206.
